Hybrid Group Casses

Birth Essentials is rooted in over 30 years of experience attending births, supporting new families in their first few weeks as well  teaching families, doctors and health professionals. Our approach is simple: we provide evidence-based information without judgment. Whether you are planning a hospital birth or a home birth with a midwife, our goal is to ensure you feel supported, heard, and truly prepared for the road ahead.
How the Hybrid Format WorksWe’ve designed this series to be as gentle on your schedule as possible. To save you travel time and allow you to learn at your own pace, the course is split into two parts:
Self-Paced Modules:You’ll get access to short pre-recorded video lessons. These are structured as narrated visual guides, essentially a series of deep-dives into birth and postpartum theory.Duration: Modules range from 10 to 40 minutes (averaging about 20 minutes each).
Flexibility: You can watch these on your own schedule. They will be available as of June
The In-Person Intensive We then gather at our office in NDG on a Sunday for a 5-hour session. This is where we move from theory into practice. We focus entirely on the elements that require “being there”
What We’ll Explore Together
The in-person component focuses on the physical and emotional aspects of labour and early parenthood:
Labour Support: Practicing comfort measures and coping skills, massage, and positioning.
Resilience: Learning breathing and nervous system regulation techniques.
Partner Skills: Coaching your partner on how to provide physical and emotional support as well as advocacy.
Infant Care: Hands-on practice with baby care and emotional regulation for those first few weeks home.
Most importantly, this is a space to meet your community. You’ll be surrounded by other parents-to-be, building a support network that often lasts long after the classes end.
Choose the path that fits your needs:
Group Hybrid Sessions ($300): Join a community of parents for a fun, interactive  and informative prenatal class
MotherWit Clients: Save $25 if you have hired a MotherWit birth doula.
Private 1-on-1 Classes ($475): Tailored entirely to your specific needs and schedule, held in your home or at our NDG office. (Insurance receipts can be issued for private classes only)

Robin and I would like to thank MotherWit for the great Birth Essentials Prenatal Classes they gave, we really enjoyed the format and information given!

It was great being in such an open, welcoming environment and we really liked that all types of birth were covered and there was no judgement or pushing in any one direction as being the “best”.

Corinna Groenendaal

I wanted to thank you all again for the Birth Essentials Prenatal Classes.  I thought you would be happy to hear that Nicole gave birth to our little baby, Luna Mercy, on August 20th.  Labor was swift and intense but through what we learned in your classes we felt empowered and prepared.  Throughout labor Nicole was able to tap into her MotherWit and I could feel the power radiating from her the whole time.  It was a wonderful birth experience and we can thank MotherWit for contributing to that.  The three of us are now nesting, resting and bonding on our little babymoon.

Jack Lamont

Pregnant for my first time, so clueless as to what to expect, I knew my husband and I needed guidance and knowledge. Lesley and the team at MotherWit Birth Essentials Prenatal Classes did such an incredible job of laying out the facts of childbirth with humour and warmth. They opened our eyes and prepared us in ways we would never have figured out on our own.  Thank you MotherWit!
