Postpartum Doula Packages

Postpartum Care  is designed to best support you during this wonderful time. Therefore the visits are schedule according to your needs. It is important to have a skeleton plan of what the schedule to look like, but this can be amended depending on your specific needs, and hours can be added as needed. Like in parenting and life, flexibility is crucial when meeting an unpredictable milestone like new parenthood. I am here to support that and gently encourage you to be in the moment with loving care and experience

PostPartum Care Packages:These visits can be spaced as needed in 3 hour minimum visits, and hours can be adapted and changed to better support you.
Includes:

  • One pre-natal meeting to discuss your specific needs, make a plan and address any questions you may have regarding your baby “space”, breastfeeding paraphernalia, and any other gear you may have!
  • Phone, text and email support
  • The opportunity to come to other Motherwit groups such as our Baby Group, where many new parents in the community come to share experiences, listen to birth stories, and form friendships.

Sibling Doula Care:
A "Sibling Doula" is a term for someone who tends to the needs of the birthing woman/couple's older child/ren throughout the birth, and potentially for a period afterwards. A Sibling Doula is not just a babysitter.
A Sibling Doula is a trained birth or postpartum doula, and while she will not be providing birth or postpartum services in this package, she has a unique awareness of the processes and reactions of childbirth and what children need throughout birth to reassure them.

Why do people seek out sibling doulas?

-they are birthing at the hospital and want the reassurance that when it is time to get down to the work of labour, someone is on call to arrive at their home at any time, day or night, to take excellent care of their older kid/s.

-they are giving birth at home and want their child or children to be cared for in whatever capacity they need so that the mother and her birth partner, if she has one, can focus upon their work together

Overnight Sleep Support

If there is a need, your postpartum doula can offer overnight support. This will allow you to sleep and rest, while feeling confident that your baby is in the gentle hands of an experienced doula. Your doula would bring you the baby for feeding, but would take care of the rest: diapers, burping, and settling baby down. It can be a worthwhile treat to a sleep-deprived new family!

The fee is $250 for 8 hours of continuous overnight support (usually 10 pm to 6am.)

If you feel you still need support once your session is over, you may extend your care depending on availability.

We request half the fee as a retainer within a week of your agreeing to hire a doula. Payment can be made either by cheque to MotherWit Doula Care or Interac Email Transfer, which is a greener and more efficient option. A cheque or Interac Email Transfer payment post-dated for the projected date of your last day of receiving postpartum support is required at this time as well.
